1.5R RTR Buggy Race Report

NEW 1.5R RTR buggy. My first day with it.

Raced the first race of a 6 race winter points series today with the new 1.5R RTR! I ran it BONE STOCK exactly how it comes out of the box except for the radio. EVERYTHING WAS STOCK. Took me awhile to get the hang of the buggy since I have not ran buggy in awhile and toward the end of the first 10 minute qualifier I was doing ok with the buggy but was behind trying to get used to it. I won the second 10 minute qualifier against a couple MBX6R's, Kyosho MP9, and Losi 2.0's. Qualified 3rd overall and in the 30 minute main I ended up lapping the field and pulling away but toward the end of the main the whole spur gear was stripped, only about 2 teeth left!?! Motor was tight, nothing loose to cause it. Was a shame because it really was funny to do that to the field with an RTR all stock. I finished 3rd.

New upper arms really do help the steering as I did not need to put the PRO KIT ackerman plate on it. I did not even change the shock fluids or even check to see what was in the diffs, grease or fluid. I just put it on the huddy and that was it. I ran the stock tires and they were awesome as usually but the good thing is that the foams now last. I ran them for a total of about an hour and they feel like they still came out of the box instead of dust like on the old ZX1R. Stock steering servo and throttle lasted all day with no problems at all and was enough for good braking and good steering. I did not even tighten up the servo saver. I did not like the stock clutch bell though as it wore really fast and got bad looking after the first 10 minute qual. I put another 13 tooth on there and it was good to go. The new GO 3-port ran good but still rich but I still could clear what I needed to.

The 1.5r buggy impressed alot of people out there today especially when I took the body off and they actually did see it was 100% stock and whooping up on buggies costing 3 times as much with other motors, pipes, servos and tires. This is one great RTR buggy.
