Canadian GLORCS Series Update
The 'GLORCS Final' was this past weekend, and what a terrific race it was!
All to often this summer, we've heard the word 'rain', and this past weekend was no exception. We all seriously doubted that the race would even happen, but through hard work by the race organizers, and a willingness to clean mud off all our cars, it's now 'in the record books'.
We managed to get 2 full rounds of qualifying in on Saturday, and had to push the third round off until Sunday morning due to weather. Unfortunately, we all woke up in our trailers on Sunday morning, to the beating sound of rain on the roof. It had rained all night, and all but submerged the track. Let's just say we all had a lot of fun hanging out under the pit tent (Gumps buggy got "hung" and he got bored and started playing scrabble on his wing), and we all did a lot of wrenching (Chris Capelo built a whole truggy in the trailer).
After countless bags of saw-dust were applied to the track, we were back in action, but had to go straight to the mains, as their wasn't enough of the day left to squeeze in the 3rd round of qualifying.
Like every race, there was a lot of excitement, as well as some frustration. A few of our drivers experienced minor problems that ultimately kept them from obtaining their goals for the weekend, while a few others did extremely well. With over 140 registrations, and competition ranging from Ontario, Quebec, and New York; our team wasn't able to put a car in the A-main, but Brian (Gump) Belanger and myself, managed to pull off impressive first and second place finishes in the B-main, leaving many of the regions fastest drivers behind!
Our teams next stop is Hardcore Raceway ( http://hardcoreracersrc.ca/ ). There, we will be running a ZX-1.5R buggy in a grueling 5 hour endurance race. We're looking forward to the "enduro", as it will be a test of our teams ability to work together as well as the perfect stage for proving Caster's quality!
Caaaaaaaaasttteerrrrr...... ;)
